CLEAN CRYSTALS ARE A THING OF BEAUTY :
For the most beautiful crystals, cleaning is very important.
Oxaylic Acid is what you use to clean them .and
we have it for sale at the rock shop.
Wash your crystals with a water hose to remove all the dirt from them.
Place crystals in the container that can be heated ( an old crock pot works
well for small amounts).
Cover the crystals with water and acid mixture,( 1/2 lb. acid to 2 1/2 gal.
of water)
Place the container with crystals and acid mix over some sort of heat,( DO
NOT DO THIS INSIDE OF YOUR HOUSE) well ventilated area. Cover with a dark lid.
Let heat for 3-6 hours, or however long it takes to clean them. Set container
off the heat and let set for several hours to cool to room temperature.
WASHING THEM WHILE THEY ARE HOT WILL FRACTURE THEM.
Use rubber gloves to take the crystals out of the acid solution and rinse
completely.
To dispose of the acid solution neutralize it with bicarbonate of soda.
........CAUTION.... DO NOT BREATH THE VAPORS, OR PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE
ACID.........WEAR RUBBER GLOVES..........
LET THEM DRY AND THEN ENJOY THE
BEAUTY.
